Pallas Theatre Collective is proud to announce its new partnership with Point Park University: The New Musical Laboratory. After a successful series of readings at Point Park’s Conservatory of Performing Arts over the past several years, Pallas will be partnering with the Conservatory’s musical theatre program to bring the development and production of a new work to the Pittsburgh, PA campus each year. Led by Pallas’s Artistic Director, Tracey Elaine Chessum, The New Musical Laboratory will allow junior-level musical theatre students to be involved in the development, production, and performing of a new musical each spring. While Pallas gains the opportunity to further refine and expand its TableRead process, Point Park students will be provided with the opportunity to create roles, and use their training to refine a work of art.
This collaboration is a result of Point Park’s Head of Musical Theatre, Zeva Barzell. Barzell says, “After three successful years of collaboration with Pallas Theatre Collective and Point Park’s Musical Theater Program, we are so fortunate and excited to make this collaboration for New Works a part of the training program for our students. In addition, we are so excited to have welcomed Pallas Theatre’s artistic director, Tracey Elaine Chessum, as a full-time faculty member this year and look forward to the continued development and commitment to New Works in the Musical Theatre.” Pallas is excited to work with such exceptional young professionals.
