Pallas Theatre Collective, a D.C.-area theatre company committed todeveloping new works of musical theatre and presenting classical theatrein new and interesting ways, seeks emerging young theatre professionals and students to join our quickly-expanding team. We are currently looking for creative, resourceful, and self-startingworkers to take on the roles of several Company Interns for our 2013season. All of these positions serve a vital role within Pallas Theatre Collective, and they will make it possible for us to continue making new and exciting theatre.

Current Available Positions:

Production Marketing Intern

Duties include but are not restricted to:

  • Development, in consultation with Marketing and Communications
  • Coordinator, of marketing plans for each specific Pallas production
  • Creation of news releases, articles, calendar listings, social media, and public service announcements (PSAs), ensuring consistency and accuracy
  • Compilation and distribution of said news releases to the media, via print, social media, etc.
  • Coordination of critic arrangements, including but limited to initial contact, securing complimentary tickets, and compiling press packets
  • Fielding and responding to media inquiries generated by releases, or in regards to a specific production or event
  • Coordination and supervision of photography sessions for public relations and marketing purposes

Development Intern

Duties include but are not restricted to:

  • Proactively selling the company to potential funding bodies
  • Stewarding ongoing relationships with key donors and stakeholders
  • Grant writing and research
  • Working to increase the company’s visibility in new areas
  • Identifying potential institutional funders
  • Identifying planned gift prospects and creating recognition opportunities
  • Assisting the Marketing & Communications staff in marketing planned gifts
  • Collecting donor research information
  • Assisting with mailings and electronic communications

Production Interns

Duties include but are not restricted to:

  • Assisting the Technical Director in the preparation of Pallas’ performance spaces for the 2013 season
  • Constructing, maintaining, and transporting Pallas’ sets, props, and equipment
  • Participating in work calls, load-ins, and load-outs for Pallas’ 2013 season
  • Maintaining the integrity of each performance space throughout Pallas’ residency
  • Performing general maintenance and technical tasks at the Technical Director’s discretion

Literary Intern

Duties include but are not restricted to:

  • Assisting the Artistic Director in the scouting of new plays and musicals
  • Assisting with Season Planning and Rights Acquisition
  • Fielding and archiving submissions of new plays and musicals that Pallas receives
  • Reading and preparing literary briefs for potential scripts
  • Assisting with dramaturgical projects over the course of the season
  • Recruiting dramaturgs for each production
  • Potentially serving as dramaturg for individual productions

Education Intern

Duties will include assisting the Education Director to create, build, and develop the Pallas Theatre Collective education programs, including but not limited to:

  • Innovative pre- and post-show discussions and panels
  • Workshops, lectures, and master classes for DC students and professionals
  • Fostering partnerships with local schools, actors, and companies
